MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - You can sit in the seat of American heroes this weekend at Patriots Point.
Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum is hosting another "Open Cockpit Sunday" on February 21. These special admission days allow guests to climb inside and get an up-close look at historic aircraft on the USS Yorktown. Anyone can sit in the pilot's seat on aircraft like the F-9 Cougar, S-3 Viking, H-3 Sea King, F-18 Hornet, and A-6 Intruder. The H-1 Huey and CH-46 helicopters in the interactive Vietnam Experience Exhibit will also be open to explore.
In addition to climbing inside the aircraft, this Sunday the museum is also offer special guided tours of the USS Yorktown fo'c'sle (the area where the anchor chain enters the ship). This area is not usually open for tours.
The museum will be open from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. but the cockpits and fo'c'sle are only open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
