Couple charged with taking nearly $2 million from S.C. auto dealership

JASPER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

Agents of the S.C. Law Enforcement Division arrested a Jesup, Ga. couple in connection with the diversion of nearly $2 million from a Jasper County auto dealership over a five-year period on Thursday.

Between June 2008 and October 2015 Deanne and David Ogden created fraudulent checks from Welch Ford Lincoln Inc. and used those checks to pay for their personal credit cards.

Deanne B. Ogden, 54, of Jesup, Ga., was charged with nine counts of breach of trust with fraudulent intent, value $10,000 or more. Each count is a felony which carries a possible penalty of a fine at the discretion of the court or up to 10 years in prison.

David F. Ogden, 56, of Jesup, Ga., was charged with three counts of receiving stolen goods, value $10,000 or more. Each count is a felony which carries a possible  penalty of a fine of at least $2,000 or up to 10 years in prison.

Both were booked at the Jasper County Detention Center.

The case was investigated by SLED at the request of the Jasper County Sheriffs Department and will be prosecuted by the 14th Circuit Solicitor's Office.
