CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The latest county health rankings in South Carolina show both good news and bad news for Lowcountry residents.
CountyHealthRankings.org created a list of the Palmetto State's 46 counties ranked by various factors including overall health.

Criteria included statistics like the percentages of people in fair or poor health, smokers, adults with a body mass index of 30 or more, adults 20 and up who report no leisure-time physical activity, adults who have access to exercise opportunities, who engage in binge or excessive drinking, and of diabetic Medicare enrollees ages 65-75 receiving HbA1c monitoring.
Beaufort County was ranked as the healthiest in the state. Charleston came in third place. In the Upstate, Greenville came in fourth. In the Midlands, Lexington came in sixth.
Dorchester and Berkeley Counties came in fifth and eighth, respectively.
Richland County ranked ninth place.
The least healthy county in the state, the site says, is Marlboro County in the Pee Dee.
