SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) -

A group of Summerville police officers took some time out of their day to visit a girl who was injured in an accident earlier this week.

Officials with the Summerville Police Department say members of the department's traffic enforcement unit made Nadia an honorary junior police officer during a visit on Friday.

Authorities say Nadia was struck by a vehicle when she missed her school bus, but is healing well.

"Her family would like to thank everyone who has prayed and continue to pray for Nadia and her recovery," police officials said.

The incident happened Monday morning when officers were called to the intersection of Parkwood Drive and Germantown Road just before 7 a.m. to find a Flowertown Elementary School student unconscious, but breathing.
