N. Charleston police searching for suspect after stabbing on CARTA bus

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

North Charleston police officers are searching for a suspect following a stabbing on a CARTA bus Saturday night. 

Shortly before 7:30 p.m., police say officers responded to the area of Tanger Outlet Boulevard in reference to a stabbing that occurred on a CARTA bus.

"According to witnesses, an altercation took place between the victim and the suspect who was intoxicated," NCPD officials said.

Police say the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim.

NCPD officials said the suspect then fled from the bus towards International.

The victim was transported to MUSC with non life threatening injuries.

Investigators describe the suspect as a black male, 6-feet, 30 to 35 years old, bald head and wearing a blue shirt. 

According to witnesses at the scene, authorities had earlier surrounded the bus. 

Charleston County Consolidated Dispatchers had confirmed North Charleston Police and Fire, EMS and Charleston County Sheriff's deputies responded to the incident.
