CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston police says a powdery substance that was found inside a letter at the US Attorney's Office was talcum powder.
Police and Hazmat crews had earlier responded to the office on 151 Meeting Street for a report of an unknown powdery substance.
Hazmat teams then isolated the letter and evaluated the powdery substance.
Police had blocked a portion of Meeting Street, which has since been re-opened, as authorities investigated the incident.
"Fire and Police were notified by dispatch about 3:15 p.m. about the letter," CPD officials say.
