ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Officers with both the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office and the Orangeburg Department of Public Safety will soon have a new partner riding with them.
The Victim's Service Divisions of both agencies were presented with teddy bears intended for children who are victims of domestic violence.
Each officer will have a teddy bear in their patrol vehicle, ready to comfort a child in the event of domestic violence.
The presentation was made by Girl Scout Troop 471 at the ODPS headquarters.
"We can never know how deeply a child involved in a domestic violence incident is affected," said OCSO Victim's Services Director Chandra McPherson.
McPherson told the young ladies of the Troop they may not meet the child who receives a teddy bear, but they can know their love will be felt by the ones who receive their gift.
