CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Roger Pinckney has been with CARTA for 35-years.

He has driven two million miles without an avoidable accident.

Recently, he was named the South Carolina Department of Transportation Driver of the Year at the South Carolina Alliance for Mobile Infrastructure annual conference.

At the same conference, a CARTA maintenance team, Shannon Byrum, Fard Muhammad and David Mungin, took first place in the maintenance portion of a "roadeo" competition.

The three will travel to Charlotte in May to compete in an international "roadeo."

"We are incredibly proud of Roger and the maintenance team," said CARTA board chairman Mike Seekings. "Our drivers and mechanics deal daily with the challenges presented by increased congestion and wear on vehicles. These accolades are a testament to their professionalism and skill."
