Deputies: Suspect in custody after fatal Hemingway shooting

WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Hemingway.

Ramin Ramel Castellanons is charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to Williamsburg Co. Sheriff's Inv. Alex Edwards.

Deputies responded to a shooting on Thrasher Drive in Hemingway at approximately 12:03 a.m. Wednesday where they discovered a male victim with a gunshot wound to the head.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say Castellanons was having a verbal dispute with the victim inside the home that escalated into a physical altercation and, ultimately ended with the shooting.

Castellanons will appear before a magistrate and will remain at the Williamsburg County Detention Center until a bond hearing can be scheduled before a circuit court judge.

The investigation is ongoing, Edwards said.
