Suspect arrested in Meeting Street strong arm robbery

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Police have arrested a suspect in connection to a strong arm robbery that occurred February 15 on Meeting Street. 

Kenneth Vandrell Scott, 33, of North Charleston, is being charged with strong arm robbery and assault and battery first degree. 

Scott was being held in the Al Cannon Detention Center. 

According to police, the victim was standing next to dumpsters at 492 Meeting Street when a man grabbed him from behind, a struggle ensued, and the victim was released.

The suspect punched the victim, knocking him to the ground. He then took the victim's wallet, punched him a few more times, then left the area. 

Detectives were able to identify the suspect from information provided by witnesses. 

This investigation is ongoing.
