MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) -

A portion of the sidewalk along in the area of Muirhead Road and Mathis Ferry Road will be closed to pedestrian traffic beginning Monday because of work on a water line.

Pedestrians are being asked to avoid the area beginning Monday, according to a release from Mount Pleasant Waterworks.

The project involves installing new wastewater force mains from Mathis Ferry Road to Coleman Boulevard and is expected to be complete by April 15.

The sidewalk must be cut open to create a large hole, to allow workers to complete the installation, spokesperson Dionna Ebeling said.
