GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) - Berkeley County investigators have arrested an armed robbery suspect and are searching for another.
The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office arrested 23-year-old Travis Hoard in connection with an incident that happened on March 3 at the Family Dollar Store on Red Bank Road in Goose Creek.
Two armed suspects dressed in all black and wearing ski masks entered the store around 8:45 p.m. and attempted to rob two victims in the business.
According to the sheriff's office, after growing impatient, the two suspects fled the scene without any property.
"A short time later, deputies were dispatched to a single-vehicle collision in front of the Sunoco gas station on Red Bank Road where the occupants had fled on foot," BCSO officials said.
A report states a mask, gloves and shirt matching the clothing description provided by the victims of the armed robbery suspects were found near the vehicle.
"Hoard was located a short time later in the area of Foster Creek Road by officers with the Hanahan Police Department," BCSO officials said."Hoard, who dressed in his underwear, initially provided a false identity to police officers."
The sheriff's office says Hoard was later tied to the crash vehicle, which he had borrowed from his aunt earlier in the day.
Hoard was locked up at the Hill-Finklea Detention Center and charged with armed robbery.
BCSO investigators are still trying to identify the second suspect.
