GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Authorities say a Georgetown County employee has been arrested after he let an inmate use his cell phone.
The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office arrested 45-year-old John Paul Lackey of Conway on Monday afternoon. Lackey works for the Georgetown County Facility Services Division.
Lackey's arrest stems from an investigation that the sheriff's office says determined that Lackey allowed a Georgetown County Detention Center inmate working with the Facility Services Division to use his cell phone.
Lackey was charged with one count of providing contraband to an inmate identified as 46-year-old William Dean Burden.
Authorities say Lackey surrendered to the sheriff's office and was locked up at the Georgetown County Detention Center.
According to GCSO officials, Burden is also locked at the detention center after he was arrested on March 8 and charged with indecent exposure. Investigators say Burden was arrested after deputies responded to Stables Park on Petigru Drive on Pawley's Island for a report of indecent exposure.
A witness reported that a man was in the ladies restroom with his genitals exposed.
