NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) - The victim in a shooting at the Read Street Apartments in North Charleston has been identified by the Charleston County Coroner as Draco Istan Ali Ben Walker, 42.
Police say some type of altercation inside the apartment lead to the deadly gunfire.
Officers responded to the Read Street Apartments in North Charleston after a deadly shooting just before 7 a.m., according to North Charleston Police spokesman Spencer Pryor.
When officers arrived on the scene they found Walker, Iying face down in front of his residence with his wrists tied together with a shirt and his ankles tied with a belt.
A bed sheet was then used to tie his wrists and ankles together.
According to authorities, Walker had multiple gunshot wounds and was unresponsive.
Officers also found blood in the residence and a boiling pot of water on the stove.
They also found seven shell casings at the corner of the apartment building.
There were also impact marks on the ground in the around the victim.
A witness stated that she heard the victim outside screaming for help then heard a few gunshots.
When the witness walked outside, she saw a black male, around 5' 1 1" and 120 lbs, wearing a black hoodie and black pants with twists in his hair, flee from the apartment to a cut through that leads to Sumner Ave.
According to officials with the Charleston County School Department, nearby Matilda Dunston Elementary School was on code yellow administrative lockdown from the time of the shooting until 9:15 a.m.
The shooting marked the sixth murder in the city of North Charleston in 2016.
