WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Savannah Highway has reopened to traffic after crews repaired downed power lines that shut down northbound lanes Wednesday afternoon, according to Charleston police.
A tractor trailer towing a mobile home snagged power lines in the area of Parish Drive, causing the pole to be pulled into a leaning position over the roadway and dropping power lines into those lanes, Charleston Police spokesman Charles Francis said.

The incident forced police to open one southbound lane to northbound traffic while the other southbound lane carried southbound traffic, he said.
Police had estimated it would take hours to repair or replace the pole and get lines out of the way.
