WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Charleston Water System says they have repaired the pipeline in the tidal creek that caused sewage to leak into the Stono River in West Ashley.
Crews began working Tuesday to fix the leak, with the anticipation of completing the work Thursday.
Charleston Water System continues to advise the public to avoid contact with water in the Stono River near Laxy River Drive, South Shore Drive, and Headquarters Plantation.
That includes fishing, wading and swimming, CWS spokesperson Jenny Craft said.
Neighbors on Tucker Drive say they noticed sewage over the weekend.
Testing of water samples from the tidal creek and Stono River so far show the water is safe.
SCDHEC will be testing the water quality over the next few days.
