Police responded about 4 p.m. to a shooting at a home in the 90-block of Smith Street where they were met at the door by a man who urged them to come inside, Francis said.

The officers found a man lying on the floor with a single gunshot wound to the chest.

As the investigation into this incident has evolved, police were able to establish a narcotics relationship existed between the victim and Mungin, Francis said.

Investigators say Mungin went to Smith Street to meet with the victim for the purpose of obtaining narcotics, and that during the transaction, an altercation occurred and the victim was shot and killed.

Detectives are continuing their efforts to identify other suspects involved in this crime, Francis said. Additional arrests are possible.

Mungin is being held in the Al Cannon Detention Center.

Anyone who has information about this incident can call Crime Stoppers at 843-554-1111 or Consolidated Dispatch at (843) 743-7200 and ask for the on-duty Central detective.
