NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Two children who went missing from a North Charleston apartment complex playground have been found and are safe, dispatchers confirmed.

The children, both girls, are 10 years old and 2 years old were located at 10:05 p.m., according to Charleston County Consolidated Dispatch.

They had been reported missing at approximately 5 p.m. from a playground at a Dorchester Road apartment complex, dispatchers confirmed.

Approximately 1,000 homes in the neighborhood, including Joint Base Charleston, received an automated emergency notification call to notify them about the missing children while North Charleston Police and Fire crews searched the neighborhood.

They were found at a friend's house, according to North Charleston Police spokesman Spencer Pryor.
