GREENVILLE, SC (WYFF) -

A GoFundMe page for fallen Greenville police Officer Allen Jacobs has raised more than $10,000.

Jacobs was killed in the line of duty Friday afternoon.

Jacobs was shot by a 17-year-old self-proclaimed gang member who was recently released from prison. Jacobs and another officer stopped to speak to the teen after police learned he was trying to acquire a weapon. Jacobs was shot during a foot pursuit.

The fundraiser was set up by Patrick Walsh for the non-profit organization Heroes in Blue. The group is raising money for Jacobs' family, according to the GoFundMe page.

Jacobs left behind two sons and his wife, who is expecting their daughter in July.

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley shared the GoFundMe page on Monday.

The GoFundMe goal is to raise $150,000 for the Jacobs' family.
