BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The victim of a fatal early-morning accident in Berkeley County has been identified.
Randy Snell, 33, of Summerville, died in the crash reported at approximately 12:35 a.m. Wednesday, according to Berkeley County Coroner Bills Salisbury.
Salisbury said Snell was driving west on I-26 near mile marker 200 when his sedan ran off the right side of the roadway, down an embankment and struck several trees.
He was pinned in the vehicle and extricated by the fire department, but was pronounced dead at the scene, Salisbury said.
Authorities say Snell was wearing a seat belt.
This is the tenth traffic fatality in Berkeley County this year, Salisbury said.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Berkeley County Coroner's Office investigated the crash.
