CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston will likely be getting its first "cat café" after a successful fundraising campaign by two local women.
The founders of Pounce Cat Café + Wine Bar collected more than $23,000 in pledges in the month-long Kickstarter campaign. At Pounce, customers would be able to purchase food and drinks, including wine and beer, and enter a "cat room" to play with up to 20 adoptable animals.
Co-founder Ashley Brooks said Pounce is expected to open in August after a location is chosen in downtown Charleston. Brooks said donations to the Kickstarter campaign came from as far as Australia and Uganda.
