Bluffton Police Department's SIU arrest wanted felon.

BLUFFTON, SC (WCSC) - The Bluffton Police Department's Special Investigation Unit arrested a known and wanted felon last night.

Investigators pulled a vehicle over for failing to display a proper vehicle license just before 8:30 p.m.

According to authorities, the driver, 27-year-old Jamal Styles, turned into a parking lot and hit another vehicle while doing so. He then continued driving.

Styles finally stopped his vehicle, jumped out and began running. Investigators pursued him on foot and were able to catch him.

Once Styles was in custody, investigators searched him and his vehicle and found marijuana and a loaded pistol. The gun's serial number had been scratched off.

Authorities later found out Styles is a violent felon who had previously assaulted a police officer and was considered armed and dangerous.

After Styles was placed in the back of the patrol car, he began kicking the door causing damage. Styles was transported to the Bluffton Police Department where he tried to cause more damage in a holding cell. Investigators then transported Styles to the Beaufort County Detention Center.

Styles faces the following charges: Failure to Display Proper Vehicle License, Driving under a Suspended license, Fleeing to Evade, Simple Possession, Unlawful carry of a firearm, Leaving the scene of a collision, Obliterated Serial Number, Violent Felon In possession of a Firearm, Possession of Marijuana, Malicious injury of property.
