Police investigating shooting near Mount Pleasant church

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) -

Officials with the Mount Pleasant Police Department say they still investigating two days after a shooting near a church that injured one person. 

According to police, a male subject was walking in the roadway within Remley's Point when he was shot near Holy Trinity AME church Wednesday at 8:25 p.m. 

Thursday, a spokesman for the police department said the victim was still in the hospital. His condition has not been released.  

Authorities say after the victim was hit, he walked to the Riverwalk Apartment complex on Seaport Lane where he collapsed. 

"Several people in the area rushed to give him aid and to call 911 and give him EMS," said Chip Googe with the Mouth Pleasant Police Department. 

Authorities say they are looking for the person or persons responsible for the shooting.

MPPD officials said it was too early to speculate at this time how many suspects are involved.

Anyone who has information about this incident is asked to call 843-884-4176 or Crime Stoppers at 843-554-1111. MPPD officials say you can earn up to $1000.00 for providing Crime Stoppers with information that leads to an arrest.
