HUGER, SC (WCSC) - A crash Sunday killed a 5-year-old boy and injured others in Berkeley County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Jordan Burch of Huger was a back-seat passenger in a Honda that was struck by a pick-up truck at 7:37 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 41 and Charity Church Road, according to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury.
The driver of a 1998 Honda was traveling south on Highway 41 with two young children when his vehicle was struck by a 2013 Chevrolet traveling east on Charity Church Road, SCHP Sgt. Bob Beres said.
The driver of the Chevrolet disregarded a stop sign and both vehicles overturned, Beres said.
One of the children in the Honda died, and the other child and the driver were transported to MUSC. The driver of the Chevrolet was also transported, Beres said.
The drivers and the children were all properly restrained in the vehicle, troopers say.
There was no immediate word on the condition of those injured in the incident, but Beres said the Highway Patrol's accident reconstruction team was working the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
