MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - Mount Pleasant police are searching for the driver involved in a single-vehicle crash late Sunday night.
Police responded to Hungryneck Boulevard at approximately 11:15 p.m. where a silver Nissan sedan crashed into a palm tree, the incident report states.
Witnesses told police the driver had been seen leaving the scene of the accident on foot through a wooded area.
A K9 officer was called to attempt to track the path of the driver and police also checked with area hospitals but no sign of the driver was found, the report states.
The vehicle was found to have been rented from a Mount Pleasant company, police say.
The northbound lane of Hungryneck Boulevard was shut down while the car was towed away, but that lane reopened at approximately 11:45 p.m..
The investigation is ongoing.
