Rosinville, SC (WCSC) - Dorchester County deputies say they are investigating an apparent murder-suicide Sunday at a Rosinville home.

Deputies responded to a home in the 2100 block of Highway 15 North near Harleyville at approximately 1:30 p.m. to investigate a reported verbal altercation and shooting incident, according to an incident report.

Deputies met a man inside the home and ordered him out, then found a man and woman dead from gunshot wounds inside the home, the report states.

The witness who had been inside the home told deputies he walked into the kitchen and saw a man holding a gun and yelling. The witness told deputies the man then shot the woman and turned the gun on himself.

Deputies also spoke to the daughter of the man who reportedly fired the shots, the incident report states. She told deputies she drove her father to the home to pick up some of his belongings, but when the woman answered the door, she immediately closed it and locked it. The woman returned to the door a short time later at which point her father pushed his way into the home and began yelling, the said.

The man's daughter told deputies she immediately called 911 and tried telling her father to leave the house before the shots were fired.

Dorchester County Coroner Alice Durr identified the shooting victims as James Weaver, 72, of Covington, Georgia; and Melanie Weaver, 61, of Harleyville. Durr said James Weaver died of a gunshot wound and Melanie Weaver died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds.

The incident remains under investigation and no ruling on the deaths has been made, Durr said.
