Report: Suspect found with N. Charleston police captain's missing gun

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A 21-year-old man was arrested after he was found with a gun reported missing by a North Charleston police captain.

Authorities arrested 21-year-old Isaiah Marcus Davis of North Charleston on March 22 and charged him with unlawful carry of a pistol, according to an incident report.

The pistol was a department-issued firearm reported missing by a NCPD captain on Feb. 24, according to a separate incident report, which also stated that at the time the gun was reported missing, it could not initially be classified as "stolen" pending further investigation.

The recovery of the gun occurred on March 22 when an officer said he saw three male subjects walking side by side in the middle of the roadway on Albert Street.

Police say as the three subjects saw the police car approach, they turned into a yard and ran.

According to an incident report, when the third subject, identified as Davis, jumped a fence, a pistol fell to the ground.

Authorities say Davis attempted to turn around and retrieve the weapon, but he fell off the fence, landing on his head.

The officer then chased the suspect, eventually capturing him at an apartment complex with the aid of other officers.

Investigators say they then retrieved the weapon dropped by Davis and found 13 rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber.

Officers say a serial number check revealed the gun to be the weapon reported missing by the police captain.
