CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

Five cases of chicken pox at Wando High School has prompted the Department of Health and Environmental Control to send letters to parents.

The letter recommends parents get their kids vaccinated if they've never had chicken pox.

If you chose not to, and their students have not ever had chicken pox, then the student should be kept home for at least 21 days, based on when the other students get better.

Parents are urged to call their doctors for the shot.
