GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) - Goose Creek High School will host its first-ever Gator Crawl to honor a victim of the Charleston church shooting shooting last summer.
Organizers of the individual and team relay competition want to pay tribute to the life and legacy of Sharonda Singleton, a former Goose Creek High teacher and girls track coach killed in the Emanuel AME Church shooting along with eight other parishioners on June 17.
All of the money collected from the Gator Crawl will provide track equipment, scholarships and a memorial in Sharonda Singleton's honor.
The Gator Crawl will take place Saturday at Goose Creek High School. Sign-in begins at 7:30 a.m. and the heats start at 8:30 a.m.
Teams of five to eight people may participate for just $100, and individuals may participate for $20.
For more information, or if you are interested in being a sponsor or a vendor, please visit the Gator Crawl Facebook page, "1st Annual Gator Crawl," or contact the school at 843-553-5300.
