BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Two local high schools are getting recognized for their stellar academic performance.

Cross and Goose Creek High Schools were named to the U.S. News & World Report's 2016 Best High Schools list.

The two schools received bronze medals based on how students performed on standardized tests, the school's graduation rate and how well students are prepared to enter college.

Cross High School has received the bronze medal for the third consecutive year and four times in the last six years.

"This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of all our students and staff," said Cross High Principal Adrian Busch. "Cross is a great school with tremendous community support. We are honored to receive this recognition and will strive to continue this tradition of excellence."

Goose Creek High School has added its second U.S. News & World Report bronze medal to its accolades, this one coming for a second year in a row.

Our faculty work tirelessly to provide diverse course offerings and opportunities that will challenge our students to achieve success. Our students and faculty are the best, and I am happy to see them recognized nationally for their achievements," said Principal Jimmy Huskey of Goose Creek High School.
