CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

A cadet at The Citadel says he is now facing punishment for posting his opinion about the school on Facebook.

Last week the college received a request for an adjustment to the military college's uniform.

A female student who was recently accepted that requested to wear a hijab, a head scarf mostly worn in the Muslim community.

Last week, a cadet posted some thoughts regarding that request and how the school was handling it on Facebook.

We reached out to the cadet for a statement.

He says his post on social media was reported to school officials by another cadet.

Based on school regulations, he was charged with gross poor judgement and must serve 40 hours of service.

He tells us he will do that so he can graduate on May 7.

A colonel at The Citadel says they are currently reviewing the request.
