NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A fundraiser is being held for the bartender who was shot and killed on Wednesday near Park Circle. Family and friends of Eric Brantley came together at The Sparrow Bar in North Charleston where he worked.

He was a known musician in the Charleston area and the bar honored him by playing his favorite records.

"He was tough on the outside and sweeter than anybody you know on the inside," said Arleigh Hertzler.

Hertzler was friends with Eric for about 15 years. Friends say he was fearless, original and loved by all.

"If you were nice to him, he would go a million miles for you," Hertzler said.

They say he was also true to himself.

"He could pick on what you were doing, how you were acting, but you could give it back to him but you knew it was in good fun," Hertzler said."You knew it was because he cared about you so he was giving you a hard time."

On Wednesday morning, The Sparrow lost one of their own.

43-year-old Eric was shot multiple times and killed in the parking lot next to the bar.

Friends say he had been working a shift.

"It's a huge hole right now, it will always be," Hertzler said.

Police have identified two suspects believed to be involved in the shooting: 17-year-olds De'Andre Murphy and Jahmal Green. They are currently searching for them.

Police charged Victoria Deas and London Maybank with accessory to murder. Officials say there were in the getaway car.

"It's another reminder that we're all still here and we don't know what we have tomorrow so it brings us back together," Hertzler said.

There will also be a benefit concert for Eric on Saturday at 9 p.m. at the Charleston Pour House.
