Suspect leads NCPD on high speed chase

(WCSC) - A suspect led authorities on a high speed chase that began in North Charleston and ended in West Ashley.

According to authorities, shortly before 10 a.m. officers had pulled over a red Ford F-350 pickup truck that had just stolen a utility trailer from the Pine Crest Apartments on McMillian Avenue in North Charleston.

Authorities say the trailer became unhitched from the truck and the driver of the vehicle then failed to stop for officers and led them on a pursuit that ended on Hwy 17 and Bluewater Way in West Ashley with the suspect being taken in to custody.

In addition to the trailer, the Ford F-350 the suspect was driving was also reported as stolen several days ago in North Charleston.

The suspect was wanted by Mt. Pleasant and the Charleston County Sheriff's Office for similar thefts.

The suspect, Gerry Gadsden, is charged with Failure to Stop for Blue Lights, Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Grand Larceny, DUS 3rd Offense and Habitual Offender.

His bond hearing is expected to take place sometime over the weekend.
