DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

Bond was denied for a man who authorities say fired shots at a vehicle with seven children and three adults inside.

Freddie Williams was in court on Wednesday where he faced ten counts of attempted murder.

Williams was arrested at a home on Spring Branch Road in Harleyville on Tuesday.

Authorities with the sheriff's office say a story on Live 5 News led to tips which brought Williams behind bars.

Williams arrest stems from an April 17 incident when deputies responded to the 120 block of Dogwood Trail in Harleyville around 12:30 p.m. in reference to shots fired.

According to an arrest warrant, the group was getting out of their SUV when they saw Williams lean out of the passenger window of an approaching tan Chevrolet Impala and start shooting at them. The car was being driven by someone else.

We spoke to the driver of the SUV, who asked us not to show her face because the suspect hasn't been caught.

"An angel was in my car that day," the still frightened woman said.

"I told my kids to get down so they wouldn't get hit. And then they went down the road, I was snatching them out one by one, we all ran into the back so they wouldn't get hit."

Another one of the adults, who said he was involved in a fight with the suspect the day before, said the vehicle passed them, turned around and shot at them again. The man said he heard seven or eight shots.

The victim told officers he and the suspect fought because they were seeing the same woman. He thought the shots may have been fired retaliation to that.

The vehicle was hit several times, the arrest warrant states. No one was injured.

The mom of seven says she's angry that she and her kids almost became collateral damage.

"He didn't come for us, but he didn't care who was around when he shot," she said.
