An American Airlines flight was diverted to Charleston International Airport Wednesday afternoon, airline officials have confirmed.

Flight 1006, which left Boston bound for Miami, landed at 3:40 p.m. in Charleston, according to American Airlines spokesman Ross Feinstein.

The plane took off bound for Miami at 5:29 p.m., Feinstein said.

Charleston airport authorities say a passenger was removed from the plane and was interviewed by the Charleston Aviation Authority Police.

Authorities say the FBI has taken the passenger to MUSC for a medical evaluation.

There are no details as yet on the nature of the disruption.
