JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) -

Police are working to identify a suspect in a Friday night shooting on Johns Island that left one man wounded.

Charleston police say they received a call at around 9:15 p.m. reporting a shooting on Spence Drive off Main Road.

Authorities say the victim was shot in the leg and was transported to MUSC for treatment. On Saturday the victim was released from the hospital.

CPD officials say investigators were on scene gathering information about any potential suspects and what led to the shooting.

Crews with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office and a K9 unit were also called to the scene to assist in the investigation, according to witnesses.

Officers were seen searching the area and placing evidence markers on the ground.

A portion of the road was blocked Friday night as officers investigated.

Anyone with information in the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (843) 554-1111.
