WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) -

The family of two brothers killed in a car accident is urging everyone to remember to use seat belts.

The "Klickit 4 Kelvin" event at Citadel Mall was held Saturday in memory of teenage brothers Kelvin and Matthew Richardson who died on their way to church when their car hydroplaned during a rain storm on Nov. 8, 2012.

Neither brother was wearing a seat belt.

"No matter where you're going if you're just going down the street put your seat belts on," the teens' mother, Karen Richardson said. If you're the driver of the car you're responsible for that life with you so put your seat belt on."

The Centers for Disease Control says car crashes are one of the leading causes of death in the United States, but more than 10 percent of all Americans do not wear seat belts.
