Special Olympic golfers win gold in China

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) -

A pair of South Carolina Special Olympics athletes won gold medals in a recent golf competition in China.

Nikki DeWitte, 16, of Mount Pleasant and Lee Harrison, 21, of Greenville traveled to Macau, China for the 2016 Special Olympics Golf Masters at the end of April. They joined athletes from Texas and Virginia as representatives from the United States. Nikki and Lee participated in individual skills and the 9-hole Best Ball team events. Both athletes won Gold medals for their performance.

In addition to their golfing, both athletes were able to do some sightseeing and participate in other scheduled activities.
