BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Berkeley County Coroner has identified a high school senior killed in a car accident in Bonneau.

Coroner Bill Salisbury says 18-year-old Katelyn Moore died after a crash on Black Oak Road Thursday afternoon. She attended Timberland High School.

Highway Patrol officials says her vehicle was hit by an eastbound Mitsubishi that veered into westbound traffic around 4:30 p.m.

Salisbury says her death has been ruled an accident.

The driver and the passenger of the Mitsubishi, a man and a woman, were taken to a hospital.

Authorities say all involved in the incident were wearing seatbelts.

Motorists reported that traffic was backed up in the area for hours as crews responded to the scene.

According to witnesses, a medical helicopter was called to the area to assist.

Salisbury says this is the 15th traffic fatality in Berkeley County this year.
