ISLE OF PALMS, SC (WCSC) - Firefighters are investigating a house fire that broke out early Sunday morning on the Isle of Palms.

Isle of Palms Fire Department responded to an alarm at The Citadel Beach House around 3:43 a.m.

Everyone in the house had safely evacuated and flames were showing from the ground level all the way through the roof.

Fire personnel started working on putting the fire out right away and were helped by crews from the Town of Sullivan's Island and the Town of Mount Pleasant.

They also had support from Charleston County EMS, Charleston County Rescue and the American Red Cross.

"Fire crews did an amazing job fighting the fire and from keeping it from spreading by knocking it down quickly" said Isle of  Palms Fire Department Fire Chief, Ann Graham.

One member of the Isle of Palms squad was transported to East Cooper Hospital but is now back on service.

Crews are still on the scene looking for hotspots and are starting an investigation.

Crews working the scene have closed road access in the area.

The Citadel Beach Club will be closed until further notice.
