NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Firefighters pulled a puppy from a burning house in North Charleston Sunday afternoon.

The fire was reported just before 4:30 p.m. in the 4700 block of Aster Street, according to North Charleston Fire spokesperson Bianca Bourbeau.

First responders reported heavy smoke and fire visible and immediately began working to contain the fire. They were told one pet was still inside the home.

Firefighters soon emerged with the puppy.

No injuries were reported but the home sustained significant damage, Bourbeau said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
