A Charleston man is facing charges after an armed robbery in downtown Charleston while officers continue to look for another suspect.
Maurice Simmons has been charged with armed robbery.
Officers responded to an area of Todd Street around 6:45 a.m. Saturday to meet with a victim who claimed he was robbed on the 670 block of King Street. According to an incident report, the victim had a swollen face, a bloody nose, and his right eye was bloodshot.
The victim said he was approached by two men. One of the men asked "Where's the money?" before striking him in the face twice with a closed fist and taking his wallet from his back pocket, the victim said.
The victim was taken to the hospital to receive treatment for his injuries.
Officers have not yet arrested a second suspect, according to Charles Francis, Public Information Officer for the Charleston Police Department.
