NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The North Charleston Police Department has arrested a 28-year-old man accused in a shooting.
Officers arrested 28-year-old Derrick Porter of North Charleston and charged him with attempted murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.
Officers found him in the area of Rivers and Cosgrove avenues.
He's expected to go before a bond judge on Tuesday.
On April 16, officers responded to the Max Quick Stop parking lot on McMillan Avenue for a report of someone being shot.
When officers arrived they saw the victim sitting in the driver's seat of a car with the window open.
Authorities say the victim was breathing, making groaning sounds and had a gunshot wound to his forehead.
NCPD officials say as emergency crews were transporting the victim to a stretcher, a loaded 9mm gun fell from the victim's pants.
Officers reported locating cash near the center console and smelled marijuana inside the vehicle.
Investigators found a 9mm shell case on the pavement next to the right front passenger side tire.
The victim was transported to MUSC.
