BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The National Action Network held a press conference Wednesday, two days after a Goose Creek man accused of shooting, burning and burying two men received bond.
James Loftis is charged with two counts of murder in the March 5 killings of Guma Dubar of North Charleston and James Cody Newland of Ladson. His bond was set at $250,000 Monday.
Earlier this week, Loftis' lawyer said he planned to request a pre-trial hearing under South Carolina's "Stand Your Ground" law.
The civil rights activists said they planned to ask the state Attorney General to get involved, especially if Loftis' attorney attempts to defend him with the Stand Your Ground law.
