NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A former North Charleston police officer was sentenced to five years in prison for seeking sex with a 9-year-old girl.

Ernest Christopher Limehouse was sentenced on Wednesday after pleading guilty last Fall to a four count indictment for attempted possession of child pornography.

According to authorities, when Limehouse was a North Charleston police officer, he actively posted personal ads seeking "taboo fun" and pictures of children.

Prosecutors say the personal ads caught the attention of the FBI who contacted Limehouse using an undercover agent.

Limehouse reportedly told the agent he wanted pornographic pictures of children, and wanted to travel to Atlanta to have a sexual encounter with a fictional 9-year-old niece of the undercover agent.

Court records state Limehouse explained to the agent that he wanted visual confirmation of the child "to prove that she does stuff" because he did not want to travel to Atlanta and discover she "did not want to do anything."

Authorities say no pornographic images were sent to Limehouse by the agent, and Limehouse did not travel to Atlanta to meet a child.

A search warrant then led to the confiscation of Limehouse's computers and iPhone in which investigators reported that they located digital communications between a mother who was asked by Limehouse to send him nude pictures of herself and his minor daughter.

Prosecutors say Limehouse's guilty plea relates to his attempted possession of child porn concerning the woman and her daughter.

In addition, investigators reported that Limehouse "repeatedly berated and demanded" the woman for nude pictures of her daughter.

Court documents state that the woman was aware Limehouse was an officer and when he requested the pictures, she asked,"Isn't it illegal?"

Authorities say Limehouse then responded, "I won't tell if you don't."

According to investigators, the woman asked Limehouse twice if she would be arrested if she produced the pictures and Limehouse said she would not.

Prosecutors say the nude photos of the child was part of Limehouse's larger plan to have sex with the mother and the child, and had asked the mother how far he would be allowed to go with physical contact with the daughter.

Investigators say Limehouse never made direct sexual contact with the woman or her child.
