BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Authorities arrested 16 people during an undercover prostitution operation in Berkeley County.
Officials with the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office say the prostitution sweep was held on Monday and resulted in 11 arrests for solicitation of prostitution, three for drug violations and two with warrants from area agencies.
"Nine of the arrests were in Hanahan while the remainder were in the Goose Creek and Ladson areas," BCSO officials said.

According to BCSO officials, Undercover deputies posed as prostitutes during the operation whereupon customers approached and solicited them by offering money for sex acts.
"The Hanahan Police Department charged the violators for the cases that took place in Hanahan while the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office charged the others while the two with warrants were turned over to the agencies that had outstanding warrants for their arrest," authorities said.
Sheriff Lewis stated, "We are proud of our relationship with the Hanahan Police Department and we will continue to work with them to assure that Berkeley County continues to be a great place to live and work."
A press release states the arrests stem from concerns about prostitution, public sex acts and drug activity near a school.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division also assisted in the operation.
