The Charleston County School District has appointed a new principal for Wando High School.

Dr. Sherry Eppelsheimer served as Interim Principal at Wando High School since June of 2015, after previously serving as an Associate Principal at the school where she was an administrator for the past eight years.

“Dr. Eppelsheimer is the right person to lead Wando High School,” said CCSD Superintendent Gerrita Postlewait. “She has the temperament, the drive, and the passion needed to build on the many successes of the school. I look forward to seeing all she will do for the students, staff, and community.”

Eppelsheimer previously took the interim principal position when longtime Principal Lucy Beckham announced her new position as Executive Principal for District 2 in 2015.

Beckham oversaw the building of the new high school, and worked to strengthen the academic program, Pre-K through 12, before her passing in December 2015.

“Dr. Eppelsheimer is well-qualified for her new role,” Beckham previously said in reference to her appointment as Interim Principal in 2015.

CCSD has also appointed Principals: Paul Padron, Deer Park Middle School; Vanessa Brown, Baptist Hill Middle-High School; and Wanda Hughes, E.B. Ellington Elementary School.
