SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Authorities say a suspected car thief who caused some school bus delays in Summerville has been captured.
According to the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office, the thief was found barefoot and wet, hiding in a wooded area.
Some students in Summerville arrived home later than normal because of the police activity near a subdivision where some students live.
Just before dismissal at Reeves Elementary School, law enforcement officers requested the school hold buses that serve the area in and around the Drakesborough subdivision, Dorchester County School District 2 spokesperson Pat Raynor said.
The reason for the request, she said, was that authorities were pursuing a suspect in the area.
By 4:15 p.m., Raynor said the buses had delivered students home safely.
