Hundreds to ride & honor those killed on bicycles

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Hundreds are expected to ride bicycles around downtown Charleston Wednesday evening, escorted by police, to honor those killed or injured on bicycles.

The global event aims to raise awareness for bicycle and pedestrian safety.

Executive Director of Charleston Moves, a nonprofit working to enhance conditions for biking and walking in Charleston County, Kurt Cavanaugh said the ride begins at 6:15 p.m.

Bicyclists will start and end at Palmetto Brewing located at 289 Huger Street.

From there, bicyclists will take Huger Street to King Street, King Street to the Battery, turn on Ashley Avenue, and Ashley Avenue to Huger Street.

Everyone is encouraged to get to Palmetto Brewery at 5:45 p.m.
