Moncks Corner teenager killed after head-on collision in Summerville

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) -

A Moncks Corner teenager was killed in a head-on collision in Summerville Wednesday afternoon. 

According to the Dorchester County Coroner's Office, 17-year-old Carliegh Cassey Langston died from multiple blunt force trauma. 

Authorities say Langston was a passenger in a Plymouth Mini Van that was traveling east on Highway 78 near Tiger Lane when the van went left of center and struck a dump truck which was traveling west.  

Langston was taken to Trident Medical Center where she later died as a result of her injuries.

Highway Patrol says the driver of the van, identified as a 26-year-old man from Salley, SC, was not wearing a seat belt and suffered severe injuries.

He was transported to the Medical University of South Carolina. 

According to SCHP officials, the driver of the mac truck was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. 

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
